No longer hosting campers
This property is no longer hosting guests. Apparently John has had trouble getting the message through to Hipcamp. I'd stayed there in the Spring and he had said he would be stopping the camping set-up, but when I searched the area for a place to stay, it came up with one tipi and two campsites still available. I thought maybe he'd changed his mind ... the reply giving directions, etc. came through and everything! Guess those are automatic ... ? So I pulled in to his private property, after dark, very tired after driving all day, opened a closed gate, drove right past a "NO TRESPASSING SIGN" only to find the place is not operational as a place to camp. Luckily, John is a very nice guy and let me set up my tent in one of the former primitive camping spots. Lucky I had my tent with me! The showers are no longer in operation (aggh I was really looking forward to a shower) but he did make sure I had a toilet to use. I am very grateful to John, however the listing needs to be taken down! I am sad he's not doing it anymore as it was a great thing he was doing - very generous and creative. But don't make the same mistake I did! Hipcamp, take down the listing!

Cute tidy tended-to site
Tent
They're putting work into this place, it's lovely and clearly in progress. Clean bathrooms, tidy sites, bit was awesome to have a soft spot to put the tent. Right next to a mystery pond. Small sites, no shade. I tried to contact the host that day (I booked the day before) and never heard back but he was there ready when I arrived at 9pm. Overall good experience for a drive along campsite.

Wonderful! Even when it’s hot out!

Great experience! The bathrooms were clean and new. The wildlife and scenery were all enjoyable. The tipi was comfortable after sunset (it was 100* and then suddenly 85* just after sunset, 70s by midnight - welcome to Georgia!) Sunrise at the little pier was delightful. I glimpsed a very small gator and some large crabs (and 4746262 tiny crabs). Big dragon flies and lots of birds to watch. We visited some antique and thrift stores near by - it was a fun 1 night pit stop on our way back up north. My kid enjoyed the novelty of it all. Great spot for a family trip! Don’t forget to visit America’s Smallest Church - it’s a cute detour about 20 mins away.
