Being a part of the Spanish & Mexican Land Grant granted to Francisco Farias by Spain in 1808.....but there is no copy in the Texas General Land Office of this title....the land was confirmed by the Legislature, Act of February 10, 1852, and said tract was also called "Santa Cruz" (Confirmation No. 6 for the County of Starr) My heritage is very important to me. I have followed my roots back to early 1700s. You will have a glimpse of my story. The water container on the property is almost 100 years old. The stones were harvested from nearby.Learn more about this land: We are a small hole in south Texas. My paternal grandfather migrated to the Rio Grande Valley and bought his piece of Mis Raices. (My roots)You will witness the most amazing view of the stars @ night. You will hear and hopefully see the wild. Birds, deer, rabbits, fresh air.

Josie greeted me as I arrived after following her instructions to Mi Raices and showed me her beautiful place. She had plenty of room for my camp which I setup. She showed me all her amenities on her property. I felt at home after being brought up on a South Texas ranch brought back many fond memories of my upbringing. I said my goodbye on my last day and told Josie if I ever find myself out in this part of Texas I'll be booking a return trip with her.

The host is a very kind person and always willing to collaborate. The place is in a desert area if you have to be careful with the plants, the bathroom was clean, but there are no showers. There are farm animals to see. For short stays, like spending the night like we did, it's fine.

Quiet night. Lots of chickens including roosters and baby chicks. Josefina was very personable. Big sky full of stars to look at too!

Sleep under a blanket of stars!
This space is far from other buildings and houses and provides total darkness at night for seeing the stars. Josefina was great at communicating on how to find the location. Tito, Josefina's father, greeted me when I rang the bell outside the house and he told me to park anywhere. I slept comfortably in my Prius that night with no issues. It would be best to arrive before dark, otherwise it may be too difficult to find. Also, using a tent is probably not the best idea, as there are many stickers. I rode my bike all around the dirt roads near this property. It was a lovely evening. A safe and quiet place to rest for the night. I would stay there again.
