Over the past two decades, we've planted thousands of grapevines on our 60 acre property. More recently, we have taken the next big step and started producing some fantastic wines from our grapes!
Our property expands over 50 acres allowing you to enjoy sweeping views and a peaceful environment.
We are located less than 1.5 hours from DC which makes us an awesome weekend adventure out of the city. Our property is also a short drive away from many hiking trails in Shenandoah National Park. After hiking in the park, come back to enjoy some of our wine at our picnic area overlooking the vines! We are also within striking distance of several other great restaurants, wineries and distilleries.
Other great activities nearby include apple picking, spelunking, swimming, kayaking, rafting, and of course wine tasting. We are near to Shenandoah National Park, Shenandoah River, Luray Caverns, Skyline Caverns, and Old Rag Mountain.
Your host is available and enjoys getting to know Hipcampers. We will greet campers upon arrival but leave campers to enjoy their stay!
This geodesic dome campsite is a mixed bag, offering a unique and private glamping experience close to Shenandoah National Park. The site is nestled in a quiet corner with picturesque views but is somewhat remote, requiring a vehicle with good clearance to access. While the dome provides a cozy retreat with a wood-burning stove, some guests noted issues with mold and the distance to restrooms. The experience is enhanced by a nearby vineyard, though some visitors were disappointed by the lack of available wine tasting and the dome's cleanliness.
The site appeared shut down for the winter despite being rented to us. The "flushable toilets and running water" were all shut off. Very rustic, and slightly slopped camping area made leveling a challenge. The host never replied to our message. Might want to consider somewhere else.
We enjoyed our stay at the geodesic dome, what a unique experience. It's in a cute location, not too far from Shenandoah National Park. We were happy to have the wood burning stove, but it's definitely worth paying for the provided firewood instead of trying to finding little sticks. It was a very cold night and we were grateful for the provided blanket (but also glad we brought some of our own). We were glad to be in my truck to get to the site as it is up a gravel road and through a field. Just for everyone's heads up, the toilet is a pretty far distance from the site.
Great spot and the dome is lovely. It’s in a quiet corner of his property where you can hear the birds chirp and a brook babble.
I was surprised how much effort a wood stove takes to keep the fire going, so just make sure you bring warm PJs and blankets.
Highly recommend as a limited frills glamping experience. (Toilette is bit of a walk, and limited electrical.)
The site was far off the road, requiring you to drive a long ways across an unlit, unmarked, winding field without paths. The host sent a high speed video of how to find the site that was very hard to follow at night. Had it been muddy, my car would have gotten stuck in the field for sure. Was totally unprepared for any of that. Once we found the site, it smelled so badly of mold and we decided it wasn’t worth it to stay the night. Sucks because the host was communicative and friendly—really wish it had worked out differently.
Very cool property. Great views up top and great privacy near the dome. Easy to find with Max’s directions.
