Creature comforts
Enjoy the comforts of home at some sites—including flush toilets, showers, and a kitchen.
Formally a horse spelling farm, "Prado Downs" became the new home for Shiralee Clydesdale Stud in 2021. We hope you enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and between March and September, we ramp it up with activities of all sorts. Campsites can be on the slightly undulating, open lawn area, or down by the creek under the gum trees. Bore water available. Construction is underway for a Camp Kitchen. The flushing toilets and showers are up and running! While you're here, help feed the horses or pat the foals. Collect the eggs or have a drink around the communal campfire. Want quiet time - each site has its own smaller fire pit! Only 15 minutes' drive to Rockhampton - or on your way to Emu Park Beach, you can visit the Camel Farm, or the Koorana Crocodile Farm.

Camping with Clydesdales offers a spacious and tranquil setting, perfect for a nature getaway. The presence of animals like cows, horses, and goats is a hit among kids, providing a fun and interactive experience. However, some visitors noted that the amenities, particularly the toilet and shower facilities, could use some improvements. Despite these drawbacks, the friendly hosts and the unique experience of camping amidst freely roaming animals make it a memorable stay.

Lots of potential
We think this camp-site has wonderful potential, and we'd like to give feedback on the challenges that we faced which might help give an idea on how to change it for the better for future campers. Some challenges We faced: - Toilets and showers were more dirty than what is acceptable for such a location. - toilets did not flush properly - loose cows and horses which invaded our camp-site and were hard to move on. - ants nests located fairly regularly around property which made it hard to find a good spot to set up camp. Besides these, access to Rockhampton was a breeze, it was right on the highway and very close. Privacy was great. The grounds keeper was very kind. There was a lot to see around the camp-site, with old vehicles, beautiful horses and cows from a distance, a nice dam. A spot for kids to play. We'd love to come back, but we'd think the property could use some more basic maintanence.

The site was as described, peaceful, surrounded by nature with tall trees and wildlife. Waking up to birds and fresh air was perfect. The hosts were friendly, and the spot was well-kept. Great for a nature escape!

We had a great time! We were given our own choice where to pitch a tent. We had cows coming through our sites which my little fellow loved. Found it great and reasonably priced. Thanks for having us!
