We just got back from a fantastic stay at Paul’s Shanti Retreat with our dog, and we can’t recommend it enough! The property is beautifully maintained and super peaceful, with stunning views over the neighbouring farm and bushland. We even saw a couple of emus and kangaroos wandering around a paddock nearby. It was beautiful sitting up on the bench on the hill above the granny flat to watch the sunset too. It’s the perfect spot to unplug and enjoy nature, yet it’s still close to local towns if you want to explore. Paul was an amazing host—really welcoming and accommodating. He had put the air con on and lit a candle in the house before we arrived and came to show us around when we first got there. He even offered for us to stay a bit longer after the usual check-out time, which we really appreciated. The house was very clean, had everything we needed, and was dog-friendly, which was one of the main reasons we booked it, as we had unfortunately been knocked back by other accommodation options due to our dog being a larger ~50kg breed. We also noticed there were awesome book and DVD options available, which we didn’t have time to enjoy this visit but would love to explore next time. We got to take our dog through the bushland adjoining the back of the property for walks to tire him out and give him lots of new smells to explore. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway, this is the place to go. We can't wait to come back!

Not quite as advertised
Paul's property is so beautiful, despite a few surprises it would have been exactly what we needed. We booked with the purpose of being alone in the bush so that we could unwind. Our dogs are not friendly with other dogs so we specifically booked here so they could relax, meaning we could then too. On arrival we learnt that the owners house was less than 50m away and they had a dog. We had no way to secure our dogs from visiting the main house unless we tied them up. In the end it didn't feel comfortable and this was not the intent of the getaway so we ended up leaving early. It's a beautiful location but if we had known these things originally we would not have booked so wanted to let others know that may be in a similar situation. If these things are not a problem for you then I'm sure you will love this place and it's surroundings.

Paul’s retreat is the perfect place for a peaceful relaxing weekend getaway. It’s very scenic and tranquil with the lake and forest. Sunset was majestic too watch there. The property is well maintained. On our departure date Paul was so kind too offer us too spend the rest of the afternoon on the property if we wished, which we gladly took up. Would highly recommend and will be hope too stay again in the future.

Loved our stay at Shanti Retreat! So peaceful, relaxing and such a beautiful and tranquil property. Location is great and close to local towns. The house had everything we needed, well maintained and perfect for our dog too. Paul is a great host, very kind and receptive, easy to contact and very efficient helping restore power with an unexpected area wide power outage. Will definitely be returning soon!
