All to yourself
100% of recent Hipcampers say this Hipcamp felt private.
Situated about 30 minutes from Lake Anna, this old colonial property features wildlife, quiet, and colonial ruins. We are approximately 25 minutes from civilization where you can shop and dine. We are also about 10 minutes from the nearest country store/gas station. We sell firewood, fresh eggs, and bottled water. We have the capability to help move your gear to the camp site and back to your vehicle if needed. Right now, we only offer primitive camping, but will be offering a cabin later this year. We also have a small private pistol range!C’mon out and relax next to a small spring fed stream. The babbling water is relaxing. We have stools and a fire pit; bring your tent and just unplug! If you don’t mind walking through brush, there is a small sand bar that can be your own private beach (about a quarter mile away).

Awesome family experience w/ 2 kids
Tent · With kids
My family had an incredible time at John's property. John and his family were gracious hosts. Our family swam in the nearby creek, fished each day we were there (and caught something each time!), hiked a bit, gave the goats a good petting, and otherwise enjoyed being by ourselves in the wilderness. The outhouse that John provides is perfectly adequate. We brought plenty of water knowing that there was no plumbing on site ahead of time. John was also kind enough to help us get our belongings to the site itself after I injured my shoulder prior to our trip. I felt better by the end, but his family still helped us get our belongings back to our car! We really want to come back and have been talking about our trip ever since. Thanks you, John!

Amazing secluded site! Great communication and help packing in and out. Felt well taken care of while also letting me enjoy the space to myself. Will likely stay again!

Great family getaway
Tent · With kids
John was a great host! Very helpful and super nice. We bought a few bundles of firewood and some delicious fresh eggs from him. He helped haul our stuff to the campsite (very useful in the rain) and made sure that we got settled okay. The campsite is very private with a nice nearby outhouse. The campsite is a bit of a trek from where you park, so don't consider it "car camping," but our dog and 2 year old were able to make it down the hill unassisted with no problems. Our daughter loved seeing the chickens and goats. It was great to get a remote camping experience, but still be only a 10-20 minute drive from coffee/ shops. We would definitely recommend this campsite!

Second time camping here, it was amazing, just like the last time. Very secluded campsite, but still close enough to the parking that you can grab anything if needed. John is a great host.

Great spot and host
Tent · With pets
This site is incredible, as is John. It is next to a small steam near the site that you can hear at night, and a fishing spot not too far. Lots of space to walk, and very private. We will absolutely be coming back!
