Haw Ridge is a mountain top camp site with a total of only two campsites. At a 4,550 foot elevation and with nearly 360 degree views, there is a perfect sunrise and sunset experience. With no light pollution the stargazing is amazing.
You must have a 4WD with high clearance to reach the site. Please list what vehicle/vehicles you will be taking to site when you are booking. There is no parking at the bottom or anywhere else - only at the sites.
On foggy mornings, the mist rolls right over the ridge top. There are 2
sites on one acre so plenty of space for social distancing!
Rocky Fork State Park Tn. is just a short drive away for some great additional hiking , swimming and fishing.
Enjoy the view and your stay!!
Campers consistently rave about the breathtaking views and peaceful seclusion at this site. The drive up can be challenging, requiring a 4x4 vehicle, but many find the effort rewarding once they reach the top. Some visitors have reported issues with trespassers from neighboring lands, leading to uncomfortable encounters. Despite these occasional disruptions, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many eager to return for the stunning sunsets and sunrises.
This camp site is epic !!! Clean , beautiful views all the way around the campsite . If you want a shaded campsite go for site #1 . Campsite #2 doesn’t have shade but you can not beat the views . Also make sure you have a 4 wheel drive . Thank you Peter for sharing this little piece of heaven with us and others .
We had a lovely weekend at site #1 and enjoyed the awesome sunset views. 4x4 is definitely a must to get up to the sites! The picnic table is a nice addition.
Definitely need a 4x4 low range to access but man what a hidden gem that was clean and views for days. Definitely an awesome spot i would love to use again. Sunset was the best. Quiet and clean.
This place is pretty cool. I've been there twice. Once in an 84 VW camper van. 9 inches of clearance, rear engine over the drive wheels, and I barely made it up the last little portion of the road/trail. The van probably didn't appreciate the beating too much. 2nd time I went up in my Subaru Outback and it was easy. Kind of feels like part of the adventure, but the 4x4 recommendation is a wise one. Great views from the top. Dark and quiet. Went up there for the Perseid Meteor Shower with my daughter and it was great.
Both campsites were well maintained. Beautiful views!
