We appreciate Robin greeting us when we arrived. She explained the set up and handed us the warm (and tasty) quiche we ordered! We had a lovely view and took a walk to the beach. It was so close. Our family of 6 + dog had a fantastic stay here. We didn't think we'd be able to book the night we wanted, but Robin was surprisingly accommodating and responsive. She set up a picnic table, chairs, and a wood fire ahead of our arrival, which lasted us over three hours in the evening. The property has sweeping views over strawberry fields. We spent a long afternoon at Manresa State Beach, which is just a short walk away. The sites are spread out well with plenty of space. In short: very friendly and responsive host, great views, and rare proximity to a dog-friendly beach. We can't wait to return.

We really enjoyed our four nights at Mi Querida ranch. It was so beautiful and peaceful. It is close to a lot of pretty places. We loved giving carrots to Daisy the donkey and Hannah the horse. We had a wild turkey staying in a pine tree near our campsite. What a charming place and Nancy is a very nice host.

We stayed at the site with with gorgeous view of the valley. Site was pretty level and offered great privacy and quiet. Short walk to a beautiful beach and close enough to Capitola and Santa Cruz for side excursions. Hosts were great. We will return in the future.

Robin and Ray were great hosts! We arrived later than planned and Ray came out with a smile and a welcome. He brought us eggs we had purchased and told us of some good restaurants and hiking in the area. Robin was out of town and was very responsive to all of our messaging questions. She made great recommendations for hikes as well. The beach is very close and we loved taking our dog down there for a walk at sunset. We hope to stay again!

Denise and Doug are lovely people. We had the most magical time on their land. We really would love to come back in the future. The water on side is very fresh from the well and drinkable. The redwood trees are magical. I also bought fresh eggs from Denise from their happy chickens. The drive to the property is windy but easy .Definitely recommend this place.❤️

What a lovely getaway. Beautiful views of the strawberry fields, The 20Amp of electricity was just enough. The fresh eggs were a wonderful way to start the day. I was in my brand new rig and had several projects underway. Ken was super helpful. He gave me full access to his tools! That’s an outstanding host. We enjoyed chatting about his time in Evergreen raising his kids.

We stayed for one night at Site #1, and definitely glad we chose it as it felt private enough for our 2 watchful dogs to be relaxed and at ease. The view was amazing and even better at night! The rented fire pit coming with the gas tank was much appreciated. Our only concern was the portable toilet station - the handwashing station wasn't functioning. Luckily we had wipes and soap so it was not too big a deal. Overall worth the bumpy ride over and we'd love to book the site again in the future!

Strawberry Fields Forever

Welcome to southern Santa Cruz County, home of some of the longest and most beautiful beaches in central California. We are located in La Selva Beach, an eight-minute walk to Manresa State Beach. We are a small, working farm with vegetable and flower gardens, chickens and bees. There are many excellent places nearby to hike, walk, surf, swim, tide pool or just sit and enjoy the view. We offer three campsites, two have fantastic, unobstructed views of the three hundred acres of strawberry fields that back up to our property. Our campsites provide water and electric hookups and are only appropriate for self-contained recreational vehicles and trailers. One of the sites has no size constraints on RVs or trailers. We have plenty of room for a second vehicle. We do offer a port-a potty, but not sinks or showers. We do not accommodate on the ground tent camping or in your car camping. The Valley View site is very quiet as it is farthest from the road, and is the most private. The Gateway site is near the road and does not have a view of the strawberry fields, but guests who are just looking for a quick stop over or base camp love it. The Strawberry and Surf site has no size restrictions and it backs up to San Andreas Rd. All site are walking distance to Manresa State Beach. We love to host guests and will provide information about things to do and see in our area. We often loan our State Parks pass so that you can venture out to Point Lobos, Wilder Ranch, Sunset Beach, Natural Bridges and more. Each camp site includes a fire pit and a generous wagon of wood. Two camp chairs and a picnic table are included as well. We also offer farm fresh eggs, baked goods and other treats (see our Extras). We are 15 minutes from the village of Capitola, 30 minutes from downtown Santa Cruz and 45 minutes to Monterey. There is a Dump station 5 minutes down the road at the KOA (for a fee).

Our new Primitive Adventures campsites are located on an established 5-star property. It’s a peaceful, secluded and private country estate. The 20 acre property starts out flat and then gentle to moderate sloped hillside with coast live oak trees, eucalyptus trees, pine trees, meadows, hiking trails and many interesting landscape features nestled between the vast farmlands North Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties. We have a beautiful 45ft waterfall with a koi pond, too. Property faces a westerly direction so there are amazing sunset views depending on where you are on standing at the time on the property. We are 15 miles from the Pacific Ocean. The weather is usually mild here and we have cool evenings. We do get days that are in the 90s sometimes in the summer and early fall, but we also have lots of shade with all the trees, and a swimming pool to cool off in as well. There is wildlife like turkeys and owls and so much more (see our listing or our website). We have horses and hens, separate from the campsites, so no flies or smell from them. Hot showers, toilets, and swimming pool included. Forage the plentiful eucalyptus and oak firewood for free, or pre-cut pine is available for purchase. Most of our weekends are fully booked at our Rustic Campsites already, so here is another chance to have yourself a weekend camping trip at our new Primitive Adventures campsites. The site offers: - A 20ft modern container home with one queen sofa bed, large screen with Apple TV, kitchen, patio, fridge, microwave, cooktop, shower, and toilet. - A custom, outdoor kitchen, and bar for entertaining with gas BBQ, fridge freezer, sink with hot and cold filtered water, Sonos sound system. - Large gas fire pit and seating area. - One A Frame eco cabin with option for one king size day bed OR two singles, A twin mattress can also fit in the cabin when in the two singles configuration. The site looks down into a private and secluded redwood and oak forest with trails for small hikes into the redwood fairy circles or all the way down to the creek. The glamping site is on a sunny flat area surrounded by steep terrain up to a ridgeline and down to the creek. The creek is accessible although the final route requires a rope down so may not be suitable for everyone. Within 15-20 min drive you will find almost all major attractions in the Santa Cruz area including The Mistery Spot, Nisene Marks State Forest, Capitola Pier, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, and many famous surf breaks from Capitola to The Point, The Hook, Steamer Lane and many more., as well as many amazing mountain bike trails. There are also several Santa Cruz Mountain wineries to explore in a 3- 5 mile radius. Further afield you will find Monterey Bay Aquarium and the coastal beaches north up to San Francisco Bay ( 1 hour 30 mins north) and down to Big Sur about 1 hour 20 mins south. We ask all our visitors to be respectful of the environment, our wildlife, and our neighbors. Please drive slowly and respect the quiet times: between 9.30 pm and 8.30 am. At the campsites, we have picnic tables, fire pits, bbqs, ice chests, and more. A clean and fresh well water hand/dishwashing station, plus Alhambra Crystal Fresh drinking water, and two outhouses are conveniently located to the campsites. Eucalyptus, oak, and/or pine firewood is provided free for you during your stay with us. It really is a beautiful and wonderful property. There is wildlife, and it is private and peaceful. It is very dark at night and the view of the stars, moon, and planets is amazing. There is poison oak on the property so please be aware.
