Swanson's Farm

2 sites · RVs, Tents33 acres · West Greenwich, RI
We have a pretty magical farm in rural West Greenwich. We are only about 10 mins from I-95 but we are nestled in the woods. Fall asleep to the sound of crickets and cicadas and wake up to birds chirping and our rooster crowing . It is certainly a peaceful, quiet, private area. Our site has a waste-bag toilet (must take waste with you), an extension cord and a sink. The site is located in a quiet field where you will often find deer grazing in the morning and afternoon. We are a young farming family. Our dream is to build a cidery on this property in future years. We have started to plant our orchard with cider apple varieties, about 650 dwarf apple trees, and we are also growing some flowers and squash at the moment. We currently have six pigs and nine chickens on the farm. Eggs and cuts of pork are available for purchase, just ask! Feel free to walk around the farm, just be respectful, don't leave anything behind, and be aware that some areas have poison ivy (the field where you are staying does not have any).

Leyden’s Regeneration Sanctuary

8 sites · RVs, Tents30 acres · West Greenwich, RI
A third generation tree farmer is trying to regenerate this property to keep it as a land sanctuary. This is a project of my brother and I, to create a healing center / space for people to come connect with the land. We have just built a deck to put a yurt on site for healing sessions. I am a cranio sacral therapist and did my yoga teacher training in India, taught in India, Australia, Hawaii, now RI! If you are interested in sessions please reach out to me. I host women's gatherings here on the land as well as seasonal celebrations (solstice and equinox). Creating common unity. tribe.visionaryfund.com/leydensregeneration All money through hipcamp and visionary fund goes directly towards the land... Regeneration, planting, maintaining, taxes and future projects awaiting to be funded! Thank you. Step 1: get people back on it. Come live off grid for a bit in West Greenwich. Must have your own water, head lamps; respect for the land. 1.5 hour drive from Boston 3 hour drive from NYC 40 minutes to Providence, Newport, Mystic CT. and all RI beaches. ENJOY :)

Dog-friendly camping in Rhode Island guide

Overview

Camping is often more fun when you can bring your pets along. Fortunately for Rhode Island adventurers, the state is largely pet-friendly. Most state beaches allow leashed dogs to visit from October through March, while those on Block Island are open to four-legged guests year-round. Burlingame State Park, Fishermen's Memorial State Park, and George Washington State Park campgrounds allow up to two dogs or cats per campsite at the campgrounds, but all pets must be friendly and up to date on rabies shots (carry proof to be safe). Pets must also remain leashed at all times for everyone's safety (including that of the wild animals who call Rhode Island's state parks home). If you have a voice command-trained pet who might enjoy doing a bit of running around, leash-free, you may prefer considering a private pet-friendly Hipcamp instead—options range from off-grid tent campsites to family log cabins.
