1 night at North Wind House: Historic Cascadia

Weekend Trip to The Lookout

Mid Mountain is the lowest of the campsites on the hill and has great views of Clear Lake. I enjoyed watching spring storms move through the area as part of my March visit. The site is flat with a lovely deck, and a large fire pit. I will definitely be returning! Each of the sites are laid out to allow privacy from each other, and I’m sure the site will continue to impress as the tree cover grows up around them. The road to reach the sites is dirt and steep - but well packed and maintained. If you have a larger vehicle or trailer you’ll need to use the corners of the switchbacks to turn around. I’d plan to arrive before dark on your first visit. Be prepared for a hike uphill if you are planning to use the port-a-potty provided. It was clean and well maintained, with a built in cardio plan to get there. :)

Nichelle was excellent at communicating with us before and during our stay. We parked our teardrop camper at spot #4 and enjoyed the spectacular views. We were fortunate to be the only campers here this weekend. It was quiet and lovely.

I love the new site named Bob Ross! I stayed there for one night and the weather was perfect for an amazing view. As with all other sites it is very private setting. Zack, the host is prompt with response and I really like that most sites are Instant Bookings. I have one more site left to tryout on his property but I know I will continue to go back.

The site was exceptionally clean and level. The view of the lake and biking trails were amazing. My 22ft travel trailer fit perfectly in the site and left plenty of room for all guests and our bike. There was plenty of room between sites. Our dog was able to explore our area and have a great time.

Perfect spot for a base camp while birding. The view is stunning and you love the deck and gazebo. Took the dog down to the beach. The camp site is in a quiet neighborhood, but I was fine with that. Looks like the one property people are mentioning is being renovated or fixed up. Great location.

2 nights at Camp Keyser Forest Camp

My parter, dog, and I had a wonderful time at the micro cabin! There was a good amount of snow on the ground and the cabin is not insulated, but we were able to keep plenty warm and dry using the wood stove. The gas lamp was surprisingly bright, and the gas stovetop also worked great. The bed was super comfortable, also. Steve was a very responsive host and also respected our privacy. The owner’s house can be seen from the cabin, but the surrounding area is quiet and peaceful. I feel like this cabin may be more popular in the warmer months, but it’s also sooo charming in the snow.

Great spot with a beautiful view. It is essentially on a shared driveway in front of homes, so there isn't a ton of privacy (if your rig has a lot of windows), but you are on the bluff overlooking the beautiful ocean. And the island is so cute. Make sure you stop in Edison on the way to get a loaf of bread! Seriously the cutest town. Highly recommend!

June Bud Farms

June Bud Farms was established in 1960s. Blending two single parents, each with 4 kids. While June & Bud raised 8 kids, they collected Registered Holsteins for their quaint dairy. As the Dairy grew to 110 acers home to 120 heifers', they soon had to add an additional milking parlor. From milking 4 cows to a staggering 12 at once, Bud made the paper for the cutting edge technology! As time marches on, the kids all grown, the little farm retired. Fast forward to 2020, its time to breath new life into this stout and sturdy barn. Cows are not in the current foreseeable future, but flowers are. We will carry on the name of Grandma June and Grandpa Bud. The play on the names is still quite fitting, and June Bud Farms continues to live on.

Bring boots or old shoes for low tide. This is by far one of the best places, and hosts, we have had while hip camping. We will be back often this fall and winter."

Good 'Dose' of Relaxation

You will find numerous hikes in the Olympic National Forest within a short drive, a gorgeous waterfall and swimming hole within 5 minutes, parks, Whitney Garden & Nursery, boat launches, crabbing, clamming & oyster digging, wildlife watching, enjoying the Hood Canal, and much more! Or, just sit back and relax in tranquility, as the property sits at the end of a cul de sac just before entering national forest land. Be sure to leash your pets and keep a good eye, as there are wildcats, coyotes, and bears in the area. Learn more about this land: Pull your RV or trailer onto this lot and take in the beautiful southwestern view of Mt. Jupiter ridge and a peek-a-boo view of the Dosewallips River! Listen closely, and you will hear the sounds of the river below. The lot is equipped with power and water hookups! Please be aware the water hookup is near the main gate entrance and the power is about 40 feet apart, so you may need a long hose (see pic). Enjoy the view from the large deck, firepit, or picnic table overlooking the river, valley, and mountains. This lot is truly a little slice of heaven! Within a few minutes, find yourself at Rocky Brook falls (see pics) for a spectacular view and even a swim if you so please! Pleasant Harbor Marina (also shown in pics) also within 10 minutes! You will also find many hiking trails and parks nearby! There is weak cell service on the lot, so you may or may not be able to connect. I get 1-2 bars with Sprint. While this property is not very far off the Dosewallips road (35 mph), it is generally very quiet and peaceful. You may hear cars and motorcycles from time to time, but very faintly. The lot is at about 350 ft. elevation, so you may get noise traveling up the valley from the residential community below (to which I belong), such as dogs, people using chainsaws, etc. There is hunting allowed in the national forest, so you could potentially hear guns in the distance during the day, but that is rare. There are a few close neighbors, so please be respectful and quiet, especially in the evening. Please bring your own firewood when campfires are allowed and please do not forage for firewood on or around the property. Lastly, while the sightings have been few and rare, the neighbors have seen bears, cougars, coyotes, and bobcats near their homes and this property. So keep an eye on your children and pets, especially if off-leash (your pet of course!) The property also slopes a bit where the deck starts, so again, keep a close eye on the kiddos. You have a very good chance of seeing the local Roosevelt Elk that travel in huge herds around Brinnon (See pics). They sometimes lay down and hang out on the grass on the property! Make sure your pets have their flea and tick updates!

Riverside Farm

My 30 acre farm has two campsites, both allow pets and campfires (outside of burn bans). One campsite is a beach on the North Fork Stilly, it is shaded most of the time, the sun lovers can paddle with their kayak or wade across to sunbath on an island across the river. tent campers can locate their car or truck on dike and move their supplies on to camping area.. trucks with campers can set up right on dike over looking the stilly. Rigs can set up in the field by the dike!! The second campsite is on 4 acres you will have to yourself by a creek; Rhodes River Ranch Restaurant is walking distance away to go enjoy dinner; the Whitehorse trail for biking or walking is only a mile away; Enjoy the view of Whitehorse and three fingers mountain. Lake Cavanaugh is nearby, and regional activities include biking, boating, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, paddling, wind sports, and off-roading. Our guests love staying with us: "Our stay at River Side was wonderful! The campsite is very large, with a picnic table and great little beach area. If you're looking for a nice and easy get-away from the city, especially for larger groups, this is the perfect place! Rhonda is very communicative and a great host. Camp Keyser Forest Camp

Camp Keyser is a wooded 5 acre parcel in the mountains, near mountain loop highway - in the center of everything wonderful in the northern cascade mountains. We have one private cabin and 6 campsites. Tent campers will enjoy the lush landscape of a mature forest with sites along the (seasonal) Thirsty Creek. Nearby (3 minute walk), users can contemplate views of Whitehorse Mountain, Jumbo Mountain, Glacier Peak, and Whitechuck Mountain. This part of the Stillaguamish valley and the adjacent Mountain Loop Highway is known for a great selection of hiking trails, at all skill levels. It is perfect hub for all of your outdoor interests. The trailhead for the summit of Whitehorse Mountain is just a mile away, as is Old Mine Road trail (45 minute hike ending in 2 waterfalls). A 15-20 minute walk takes campers to a swimming hole in the cool Stillaguamish river for a dip or a paddle. Even closer is Whitehorse Regional Trail (great for biking, walking and horseback riding) built on the bed of the former BNSF railroad through the North Stillaguamish River Valley, spanning over 27 miles. The nearly level trail meanders through the valley, rewarding visitors with picturesque, landscape views of forests, farmland, streams and rivers, and mountain vistas. Sites have a generous fire pit and access to a Porta-Potty. For bathing I recommend cool dip in the Stillaguamish River. In season there is also fishing, snowshoeing, concerts at the blue grass festival grounds, a rodeo, and so much more.

Vital Farm at Clear Lake

Vital Farm is 25 acres of waterfront property on Clear Lake, WA. 18 acres of the property is agricultural land that is open space. The owners have a small garden and some fruit trees that are for owner's use only but you are happy to walk around and tour the garden. Approximately 5 acres of the property is mowed for recreational use. There is a dock for fishing, paddle boarding, kayaking or boating. The lake is open to boats but no jet skis are allowed. You can bring your own water toys and play on the lake all day. There is open space for camping but no running water. The property has a firepit and porta potty for campers use. You will likely see wildlife like eagles (nest nearby), deer, geese, ducks, birds and of course clear, starry night, skies.
