3 nights at Strath Creek Station

Thanks Kim and Glen for a great first Hipcamp experience. Loved our site next to the creek, toilet facilities were fab and Kim’s sourdough was delicious. The first day we were there the wasps were an issue but Kim sorted us out with a wasp trap, which was much appreciated - thanks Kim. Doggos loved the secure off leash area!

1 night at Goulburn Downs

My friend and I stopped at Tim’s place for a night on our way to Barmah with our 2 horses. The Sandhills were the perfect place to pull up for the night and we even got a 2.5hr trail ride in the next morning before we had to hit the road. We rode to the river and all over Tims station, it was a beautiful place to explore! We will definitely be back in the future. Great place!!!

This was our first experience with Hipcamp and our expectations were high. Helen greeted us on arrival and showed us several camp sites , she check on us from times to time to see if we needed anything , all was good. The setting was quiet and rural with the odd cow saying hello. Our dogs loved the location for walks and we found it perfectly central to local district sights and attractions. Great time had. From the moment we arrived, Helen was incredibly friendly and attentive, promptly answering all our questions as we navigated our first adventure into off-grid camping. The surroundings were absolutely stunning, with lush greenery and vibrant flowers creating a serene atmosphere. It felt like a peaceful retreat, far removed from the hustle and bustle of city life, and the tranquility was a refreshing escape from the constant noise of traffic.

1 night at Strath Creek Station

Strath creek is a lovely place to stay! I went with two of my boys and our dog. A lot of people seemed really well set up with camper trailers etc, as it was the beginning of the Easter weekend, and it was my first time taking the kids camping by myself, but everything was so easy and well thought out that we relaxed into the site straight away. All very well set up, instructions are really clear, both written and when you get there, and there is a toilet close to each camp spot. The sourdough bread was a lovely addition too, so definitely recommend. Only able to get away for one night, but it was a very relaxing experience. Would definitely return. Highly recommend!

Our second stay at Strath Creek Station was just lovely, nestled by the creek, we were surrounded by birdlife, bushland and views of the hills. Glen and Kim are the perfect hosts, giving us privacy and immaculate facilities, yet are there in a flash if needed. Each of their thoughtfully set out sites have a fire drum, grey water collection container and toilet facilities. All sites are set apart so that you do feel like the only campers there. Strath Creek Station has fast become a favourite for our family.

There are separate campsites available. Rodborough Vale is 600 acres with a combination of creek flats, native bushland and rocky volcanic outcrops. A working sheep property with some cropping, It is home to the well known Rodvale Border Leicester Stud. Farming in harmony with the native fauna and flora, guests may be able to spot many native species including platypus, wedge tail eagles, kookaburra and many more. Fronting Deep Creek, guests have access to fishing or just sit and listen to the crystal clear water meandering past the campsites. The farm borders Tullaroop Reservoir which is only a ten minute walk from most campsites, there you can find public toilets and picnic areas it is well known for its fly fishing for trout. The boat ramp is around 400m from the front gate and guests are welcome to leave vehicles and trailers on the property for convenience. Amazing fishing in both the River and Corringle Beach, with many different species caught at different times of the year. Enjoy the 40-kilometre deserted beach, sun baking (even nude if that's your thing), and swimming, but care must be taken (unpatrolled surf beach). Romantic sunsets with no one but the odd seal and sounds of the waves to disturb you. Beach fire at night is something special to do. The beach track is across from the front gate, there is no beach sign from the road because the public will then use the track which is only for Hipcampers and you wont enjoy the deserted beach. Call me if you cant find the track, but most people have not had a problem. This walking access is steep, easier tracks can be driven to down the road.Or take a dip in the river further down the road, and explore the waterways, with many birds; black swans in the lakes next to camp, plus kangaroos, wombats, emu and deer. There is a boat ramp just down the road to explore the river system. Perfect for water sports, and with fish cleaning tables at the wharf. Go by boat to the Marlo Hotel from the wharf straight over the river.Orbost is 15 minutes drive and has a supermarket, hotel, bottle shop and other conveniences. We are open to accepting larger group bookings, but please discuss this with us first. Other things you can do in the area: - Driving trips to High Country Scenic Route and exploring the High Country (4-5 hour round trip).- Visit the Buchan Caves about an hour into the High Country - they are amazing.- Explore Cape Conran & you can even Dive for Abalone and Crayfish.- Visit Lakes Entrance and buy Seafood from the Trawlers.- Drive to Mt Hotham ski resort and explore the Omeo High Country (3 hours)- Visit Gordon at the Opal & Gemstone House in Orbost and find out about the gold, geology and gemstones of the area, hearing first-hand stories about how the area was many years ago from a great local old-timer who loves to share his knowledge and the old ways things were done.

We also allow campfires only when fire restrictions aren't in place - which is often all summer. Children under 3 are free, but for insurance purposes, please mention them in the comments. Day visitors are $20 per person, which incudes a donkey patting session. This property has an overall capacity to ensure that our number of visitors remain low. This not only ensures that campers recieve the space and peace they look for in a campsite like this, but also so that we can ensure the bathrooms can be kept clean and not overloaded. This is also a part of our COVID safe plan. Due to this overall capacity it is important that you book for the number of people that you intend to have stay, as while we try to accomodate increases to booking numbers, they are not guaranteed unless booked. No chainsaws are to be used on the property, as per Hipcamps insurance policy. There is plenty of wood around that you are welcome to collect yourselves, otherwise, we can supply loads of wood for $50 (enough for a campfire over a long weekend). SETTING UP CAMP: Please be mindful of where you choose to set up your camp. While we endeavour to keep the sites as safe as possible, some hazards include; trees and limbs falling, snakes and thistles. TRACK CONDITION The track to the campsite is bumpy and needs to be driven slowly, we have had a 22ft caravan towed by a 100 series set up here with no troubles. FIREARMS: as per Hipcamps insurance policy, no firearms are to be used on the property. We understand that State Forest attracts hunting, which we are all for, however, we ask you to respect our wishes and keep all firearms legally stored while you are on our property. Do speak to us for some local knowledge about great hunting spots! WHAT'S AROUND? BENAMBRA is a small, remote farming community 15 minutes from the property. There you will find a post office and general store, a small playground, public toilets and a great pub open for beautiful meals and cold beers Tues-Sun nights!
