3 nights at Richard Wizardy's Cynosure Project

Richard is a generous and kind host, as is his tenant/assistant. The entry into the property is a bit off putting, but the sites are well maintained. It’s like camping in a grove and very lovely. Richard has two huge livestock guardians dogs that look very intimidating, but are both lovely creatures. The older would lay outside our door like she was guarding it. It is a very quiet location.

2 nights at Karla's Hummingbird Guest Ranch

My husband and I stayed at Karla’s Hipcamp for two nights and throughly enjoyed ourselves. I enjoyed several refreshing dips is the pool and my husband and I bird watched from her front porch in the early evening! The grounds are delightful with Karla’s many artistic creations and arrangements.

Weekend Trip to Epic Private 300 Acre Saguaro Park

Deacon’s a great host and made us feel welcome, with plenty of stories about the property and help gathering firewood. We had two cars and four tent campers, and there is plenty of space to spread out. Thanks for letting us stay!

2 nights at A Spark in the Dark Campground

I came here to do some soul searching. I definitely got what I needed and the setting and host were very supportive of this. The grounds are thoughtfully setup, clean, safe, peaceful, beautiful, and full of whimsy. Clifford is personable, loving, and professional. The care and consideration he puts into the camp is evident. I especially found comfort in the “playground” walking path. I must have walked it 8 times. The “Midnight Market” sundry was a godsend 24 hours a day — and yes you can pay with your phone. You can even buy firewood. I love this spot, Clifford is a bro, and I look forward to my next visit. If you want a spot with lots of space and brimming with character where you can really just be, this is the move!

This was a great place to stay after a day exploring the South Rim. Communication was easy from booking to arrival. The site was easily accessible for our Class B RV. We had a quiet and peaceful night!

Weekend Trip to Karla's Hummingbird Guest Ranch

Karla’s place exceeded our expectations, she has created a comfortable cowgirl chic oasis with lots of fun spaces to hang out. We had dinner in the shaded picnic area every evening, even though it was windy, the shade screens sheltered us. The view of the mountains is wonderful, the pool chilly but refreshing after hiking all day, and after dark the lighting is magical. Bathrooms and showers were clean, she lent us a 50-30 amp converter for our stay. Karla stopped by to see how we were doing but otherwise left us to do our own thing. She’s a wonderful host, hope we can make it back here again next year.

The site is absolutely spotless! Karla met us at the gate and walked us around the property. It is quiet and secluded, although she has 2 cheeky horses nearby. One kicks the stall (see cheeky!) and if youre not familiar with the sound it can be jarring. The whole property is decorated with whimsy and an eye for color. we ended up throwing an air mattress in the cabana instead of hassling with a tent and were quite comfy. Highly recommend.

Sweet quiet place, beautiful views very near amenities and great town of Cave Creek. We loved being near the animals, though that also comes with the aroma, which we didn’t mind one bit. Walking trail right off main road to walk our dog. 30 amp is on extension cord and worked fine to run our a/c. Loved it.

Weekend Trip to Camp Land Beyond Zion

A lot of great amenities and other campers were quiet and friendly. They really put a lot of character into the place and it’s super charming! Water was warm and the outdoor kitchens were well stocked. Heck, Shanti’s back way to Zion National park was alone worth staying here. Thank you for having us, Shanti!

Richard was absolutely lovely! From the second we pulled in he was helpful and friendly. He offered us a full tour of his space and the chance to meet all the animals. He even offered us food or to take some duck eggs with us in the morning. The camping area was such a cool space filled with metal pyrotechnic sculptures and a creative energy. Richard is quite the artist and we are greatful to have been able to stay and meet him.

Weekend Trip to Marguerita Ranch

This was our first time using Hipcamp (& our trailer) & loved our experience. Macy was great with communications, was incredibly welcoming, hospitable & kind. She was generous with her time showing my human circus around & even let them meet her new chicks (so stinking adorable). The property was close enough to town & other “stuff” that we didn’t feel like we were too far into isolation, yet off the main road enough to feel like we could enjoy the great outdoors. The great takeaways were: we felt that we could message her & get a quick response, we felt safe with her & being at her property, we were off the beaten trail just the right amount & we loved how welcoming she was to our tiny human. oooh! For any other first-timers: measure first, set up second. After setting up & leveling the trailer we learned we were 5” short on reaching the electric outlet. Total Back to the Future moment trying to connect cords. Good times! Thank you, Macy for the memories! And thank you for laughing with us (or maybe at us 😁) through it all.

Meadview Arizona was founded in 1826 by Jedediah Smith on his Southwest Expedition in search for Beaver! Staying a small remote and quiet town it can feel like it would have in the Wild West. We obtained our campground from a couple that owned it for 20 years but just weren't able to do to it what they had originally planned.. So it was essentially a blank canvas for us to create!! We are the closest town to the Grand Canyon SKYWALK, which is just 40 minutes from us. Meadview, the town we are located, is the only place to obtain Free Entree to the Lake Mead Recreational Center. Our Campground just 10 miles from Lake Mead and 17 Miles from the Colorado River. We have outstanding Lookouts, Top notch Stargazing, Gold Prospecting, Bird Watching, Fishing, Off Roading etc. Some of the Best Desert Off-Roading through trails within the Joshua Tree National Forest, Please note you must bring your own OHV, horse, etc, there is currently no rentals available. We do have Kayaks to rent upon arrival. There is a hidden water fall in the Grapevine Wash that you can get to with a 4 wheel vehicle and you hike in about 15 minutes in. Stunning views and gorgeous natural spring and waterfall. We are 45 minutes off the 93 Freeway Free WIFI provided at the office!.. The town doesn't always have a powerful signal, please keep that in mind in your travels. However, if you have Verizon, it gets GREAT service! There are three restaurants in town, all just one mile from site... The Boathouse, Anchor Smokehouse and Fishermans Landing Bar. We have a Bakery called Rosemary and Thyme that serves Delicious foods & Pastries and makes great coffees. There is also a Gas n Grub that has ice, propane etc... 5 miles away is a Family Dollar store which we lovingly call the "Mall of Meadview"

What's even better is the property backs onto the National Forest, for unlimited enjoyment of nature. In the evening crack open a book, or start playing a game with your besties to close out a long day. The property is completely off the grid, making it very appealing to those travelers and adventurers who want to create a minimal carbon footprint on their vacation. The kitchen sink has a hand pump that draws water from under the sink from a 10 gallon water jug. You can refill the jug as needed from a hand pump located in the back yard. There is solar powered lighting and a USB phone charger station. There is no electrical power available. Cell service is available in the area depending on your carrier. The outdoor composting toilet is super clean with little or no odor. The cabin is located at 8200' in the San Francisco Peaks in the pines and aspens. Snowshoe or cross country ski, go sledding or snowmobiling, or just good old fashioned relaxation will make the time fly by. Nearby activities include: bird watching, hiking, river rafting or tubing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, stargazing, and rockhounding. This area conforms to the Arizona Dark Sky initiative, and while we are not dark-sky certified, we've had several guests compliment us on our beautiful skys. When it comes to rockhounding, or amateur geology, this is a fantastic area for exploration and study. We gladly welcome pets, as long as you take care of all their needs, including cleaning up any mess and filling in any holes. Well mannered, friendly dogs may be unleashed from time to time. Please, PLEASE watch your small pets carefully. If you're traveling with cats, please keep them on a lead. There is a riding academy and boarding facility adjacent to our property, and a long pleasant trail allows horseback riders, hikers and cyclists to travel along the Verde Greenway into Old Town Cottonwood, a pleasant 30 minute walk through lush riparian area. Hawks Hideaway is a family owned property, occupied by a 3rd and 4th generation, mother-son team. Two generations have lived and died here before us and we are proud to be the custodians of this majestic property, full of old growth, gigantic cottonwood trees. A birdwatcher, or naturalists dream. Hawks Hideaway is a natural and secluded spot located directly adjacent to the state-maintained Verde River Greenway. This means you may encounter wildlife and pests associated with being in such close connection to nature. Hawks Hideaway is next to many miles of wilderness.
