This was our favourite campsite close to Barrington Lakes. The view was phenomenal. If we didn't have to recharge and dump our tanks every few days, we would have set up permanently, but I have no issue recharging when you get the stunning view without the crowds.

Lovely camp, plenty of space and the facilities were great. The kitchen was fully equiped with utensils, pots, pants, etc. No electricity which was ok. The shower was spacious and worked perfectly. Caretaker very helpfull and kind.

Easy to find and I was greatly warmly upon arrival. The kitchen, bathroom, and laundry are basic, but they were clean and well maintained. The hot shower had good water pressure and was much appreciated after a long day exploring the sites around the area

3 nights at Blythe River Campground

The area for camping was beautiful. The babbling river and quiet area was so relaxing. Being able to take a shower is an unexpected and very welcome luxury. There were only three other campers on one of the nights and two on the others. This made meant there was plenty of space for each group. I think 17 separate campers on the site would be extremely crowded and make it not enjoyable. I think it would be best to limit it to perhaps 10 at most. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your little piece of paradise.

3 nights at PC Campsites Taranna

This camp is a good place to base yourself when exploring the Tasman peninsula. It is a short drive to Port Arthur and Eaglehawk Neck , the beaches and the tessellated pavement . We were lucky we could untie the ropes to drive around and into our site ( site 4 ) otherwise it was a bit of a tight squeeze to back in. Basic flushing toilet( only 1) , tank water , can have a off the ground fire ,nice and quiet . Be careful turning into drive , it is short and with a van we were hanging onto the road until we got the gate open . A bit hard to spot as hipcamp sign is tiny , it is just past the Unzoo and then the metal horse , on the right .

i absolutely loved the campsite. The field had a beautiful vista of farmland with a spectacular mountain backdrop. As the mist cleared in the morning the mountain appeared. The bathroom was a walk through an array of ordered shrubs and trees. It was clean, and generously offered apples and eggs for free. Marlene and her dog were very welcoming. Highly recommend!!

We are 10 minutes away from Lauderdale shops and 10 mins to the best surf beaches in Hobart on the South Arm Peninsula. You'll enjoy good access to Mays Point surf break and the Clarence Coastal Trail just a few mins away with walking tracks to Cremorne and Lauderdale along the coast. The camping area has a communal fire pit, access to fresh water and power in our large shed if needed, and a table tennis table. We are on tank water, so please be mindful of this. And please drive slowly and be mindful of treading lightly on the land. We also offer a 5m lotus belle stargazer tent, situated at the very top of the property, nestled amongst the native trees and with water views, it has a luxurious queen-sized bed with beautiful linens and is a short walk away from the walking tracks to the beach. All guests have access to our well-maintained composting toilet with water views and a beautiful hot outdoor shower that is open to the sky. Next door is a large sheep property, and on our land we have friendly chooks, peacocks, Guinea pigs, miniature goats, horses and a border collie. Guests and children are welcome to pat, feed and cuddle the chooks, Guinea pigs, horses and the miniature goats! Dogs are welcome as long as they are friendly with other dogs and people, and can be trusted not to escape to the next-door sheep property (beware as farmers can be ruthless with dogs!). They will need to be supervised and restrained (tied up or placed in our closed-in yard at night so they don’t disturb wallabies and other wildlife). We love meeting new people and are passionate about our beautiful property so we can’t wait to share it with you!

Idle Valley

Very private valley nestled between two mountainous sandstone ranges. 3.5 kilometers from Colebrook, via Yarlington road. The property in total size is 37 hectares half of which is gently undulating grassland slopes. These slopes lead to the banks of the beautiful Iles Creek which runs nearly all year round. The western range across the creek includes numerous caves within comfortable walking distance. The highest cave provides magnificent views to the East coast. Camping options include non-designated sites either side of the creek under the huge black-wood trees, restricted to 4-wheel drive vehicles during winter and spring months, with a secluded site with year-round access for all vehicles. At the entrance sits the first of the designated sites, the rest are accessed via the meandering road down 300 or so meters to the camping ground entrance for the other two sites. The last 500-700 meters of Yarlington road leading to the entrance is quite steep. Some two wheel drive vehicles towing large vans have found this challenging, while others haven't. The two main camping areas now have a 'bush loo' in each site. if you wish to use these please use your own paper. Also, now for camper convenience the whole area has access to the campers' lounge and resource shelter. It contains First Aid and snake bite first aid kits. Water is available here. This reconstructed building was once The Campania Scouts and guides, hall.

We are home to three friendly hand reared sheep - Daisy, Frank and Bill who love pats and food. Muscovy and Indian Runner Ducks, Chickens and many native birds. Overlooking the historic dam there is a shared fire pit with firewood supplied. There is a dump point within 6km, located in Cambridge Park for those with their own toilet. Some minor leveling may be required. The sheep pen and duck hole sites are pretty much flat. As we have farm animals, you will get to hear our sheep and ducks enjoying their environment. However, it is very quiet of an evening/night. We love meeting new people and are passionate about our property we can’t wait to share it with you and your family! The property is located at the base of Bruny's Isthmus, enjoying cool sea breezes in summer and mild temperatures in winter. The Woodlander Campsite is set in our bottom forest paddock, next to a dam, with a seasonal winter creek. It is private and peaceful, with no other campers, houses, or nearby neighbours. We welcome travellers, with up to two vehicles, who are here to enjoy the peace and quiet (no parties please). The campsite has its own separate access, site toilet, solid picnic table and chairs, firepit and and is approximately 600 meters from where we live. Next to 70 acres of forest the location is great for birdlife, with many of Tassie's endemics around, and other wildlife abundant after dark. We are always happy to help with birding or wildlife tips! Based approx 5 minutes from Alonnah and 10 minutes from Adventure Bay, the "Woodlander" is central to so much of what Bruny Island has to offer.

WildWing Retreat is a beautiful 25 acre bush block, located within a 15 minute (1km) walk, to the local surf beach of Four Mile. The property has been created to host retreats centred around nature immersion, movement and connection (i.e yoga, acroyoga, dance, meditation, mindfuness, embodiment practices etc) and in the 'off season' it's available to host hipcampers! Because the space has been designed to host large groups, there are a bunch of facilities available to use, such as compost toilets, a communal kitchen with fresh running water, solar lights and gas cooker, an undercover deck area, hot showers, and a cedar barrel hot tub (refer to the extras section for hot tub use!). We also have a small stream on the property, with a little waterhole for plunging in and are surrounded by native wildlife. The property blooms with native Kunzea bushes, wattles, native cherries and various varieties of eucalyptus. WildWing is also our home, so we have our own set up, on a different section of the property. This means that we are nearby if needed, but that we all have our own space on the property :). There is a beautiful large fresh water river and waterhole just down the road (15 minute walk, or 2 minute drive), and aside from the surf beach down the front, we are also only a 10-15 minute drive from a bunch of other beautiful and popular surf beaches on the east coast. The whole area is great for fishing, boating, surfing, bike riding, walking and short hikes. We are a 10 minute drive from Falmouth, a 25 minute drive from the St Helens mountain bike trails, a 30 minute drive from Bicheno & Douglas Apsley National Park, a 45 minute drive from the infamous Bay of Fires and an hours drive from the Freycinet National Park. We are passionate about outdoor living and supporting the natural environment and have created WildWing with the intention to support others to have unique and beautiful experiences in nature, while caring for the land they inhabit.

Animal Interactions: Farm tours can be arranged to meet the animals; Our adorable fluffy Highland cows are always a big hit with our guests. Our trio of Alpacas are a wonderful blend of goofy and graceful. Penelope Jane (PJ) and Duncan are our gorgeous mini donkeys, they are endless fun. They both love a good scratch and cuddles and plenty of human company. Our 3 mini goats Huckleberry, Dudley and Elfie are cheeky little chappies and what they lack in size, they make up for in character. They all like a good head scratch and pat Wildlife Encounters: We also share our 100 acre hobby farm with an array of Tasmanian native wildlife including wallabies, pademelons, possums, echidnas, bandicoots, wombats, quolls and even Tassie Devils. Wedge tail eagles and hawks soar the dams, native hens (turbo chooks!) rush around the paddocks and if you are lucky you may spot a tawny frogmouth sitting on the fence watching for his prey at night. Nature enthusiasts and photographers will find plenty of opportunities to observe and capture the unique flora and fauna of Tasmania.

Our paradise is located on Bruny Island, with forest mountain views to the west stretching to the south and east across Adventure Bay to Tasman Island and Peninsula. Camp is just a short walk to Quiet Corner and Two Tree Point, two iconic spots on the Adventure Bay coastline. Fluted Cape and this whole area are spectacular for nature lovers. And you'll be sharing the space with resident wallabies and native birdlife. This little block has plenty of sun and a shady fern glade for hammocks, flat spots for camping or vans, with a flushing toilet, hot shower and laundry facilities. The camp kitchen is located in a cosy north-facing cabin with a lounge, BBQ and fire pit. Pet's are welcome, but we ask they be kept under effective control at ALL times - see rules. Adventure Bay shop is 1 km away. A well stocked general store selling firewood bundles and fuel.

Discover where the salt water meets the fresh, with lots of amazing bird life, a short drive to many beaches, vineyards, distilleries, and parks. It's quiet and private. We have 3km of our own hiking trails, and great mountain biking. Drop your kayak or fishing rod in just a few meters from the property. Please note: We only accept one vehicle setup per group (e.g combi-van, car+ campertrailer, car+caravan). We do however have a decent level parking area not far from the camping site, so if you have multiple vehicles yet are tent camping for example, you can park the additional vehicles in the carpark and walk to camp. Multiple caravanners traveling together will need to book separately. We accept well-behaved pets. Most of the sites don’t have power, but we have a charging area for your devices. We also have a composting toilet, portaloo and an outdoor passive solar shower. Do you have an event we can help host? We could easily accommodate 30-40 for a day event. Enquire if interested!

THIS IS A WORKING FARM WITH MANY FREE ROAMING ANIMALS! Check in after 9am you get a whole day BEFORE you camp for the night and check out by 3pm this way you get another day here and plenty of daylight to get to your next place This place has river flats surrounded by wilderness and is the first private property on the river, so therefor the LAST property at the end of the road before the road goes into Forestry tracks. Many would consider this place to be very remote.....to us it is close to the City only 50 minutes away over the Mountain gravel roads. If you want to travel on mostly sealed roads go through Fingal and PAST Mathinna. Check maps before you leave as NO reception out here. It is 40 acres and we have MANY MANY free roaming animals, milking goats, ducks, chickens, cows, 3 BIG dogs. (The dogs will get out of the way of cars so just drive ahead and the dogs will move out of your way they have big barks but they are friendly) PLEASE NOTE: If you have any issues with dogs let us know in ADVANCE and we can lock them in their yard for your stay. EVERYONE is told upon arrival to honk/toot your horn if you have any issues or need help and one of us will come and help if you let us know! Otherwise we leave people in peace to camp as they wish and where they want. The property has a big guest house that is currently empty, this is where the flushing toilet is for you to use whilst camping if you like. This Rustic country house is also available for hire/rent, there is hot water via a woodfire (takes up to 5 hours to heat up water $50 per wheelbarrow load of wood) with Big triangle bath and a shower for use if you book the house, (3 single beds and a few new double bed air mattresses are available for your less rugged campers who want to come but need that extra comfort or to be close to a toilet at $40 per person per night.) You are welcome to come camping anytime with a range of needs catered to. Sorry no wheelchair ramps, a single step into the house and one step into the toilet too. Pick whatever spot you like to camp upon, by the river, the rocky island in the river, in the bush, just on the paddock grass anywhere. The big house is for you to use the toilet, kitchen sink and feel free to have a cold shower if you want. You can wander on the property connect with us and if you like you can help feed the animals. We are very happy to host people who love nature and enjoy organic farm life. There is NO wifi or mobile phone reception ZERO, so you can finally enjoy total tranquility. (there is a landline telephone in the big house so you can make a call if you need to, it is a private number)
