Weekend Trip to Boulderdash Cabin & Camping

My son and I had a great time here. My son loved the river. This particular spot is by the main entrance so not secluded but real close to the showers. Hosts were great.

Weekend Trip to Boulderdash Cabin & Camping

Camping at Boulderdash was absolutely amazing. We rented tent site 1 and our friends rented tent site 2 and it worked perfectly to have that area together. The sites were clean, quiet and had awesome amenities including the outdoor kitchen area to share with each other. This made washing dishes, charging devices and washing hands so easy. The river is beautiful despite being low and there is easy access to it. They are pet friendly as long as your pet is friendly and that's a huge plus. The hosts were so kind as well, they even put on an easter egg hunt for all the kids on site Saturday night. I can't say enough great things and will definitely be back.

Weekend Trip to The Navasota River Ranch

We had a fantastic family weekend at the Navasota River Ranch. It was so peaceful, no other campers anywhere in sight. We got to fish, foraged some berries, and picked wild flowers. At night we had a raccoon visiting our camp, but he only stole some bait from the boat. :) I would definitely be booking another trip there in the near future. The host William was very friendly. The weather was perfect and so was the atmosphere. Recommend 10 out of 10 :)

Weekend Trip to Llama Land Ranch

We absolutely loved our stay at llama land Ranch. The hosts were unbelievably kind and generous. The llamas were very friendly and the kids enjoyed them as well. The campsites were spaced nicely and well maintained we will be back very very soon. We definitely recommend staying here!

Weekend Trip to Boulderdash Cabin & Camping

Fantastic camping spot! We booked out both of the river spots so that we had more room and privacy. It was perfect! The walk up to the bath house wasn’t bad at all. Facilities were nice and clean and cared for. We didn’t use the WiFi. The sink and electric were very conveniently located. There was an issue with the outlets, but the hosts were super quick to respond and got us set up with alternate electricity sites in the meantime. Incredibly accommodating. Being next to the water was perfect! The dogs loved it. Plenty of flat spots for tents and parking. Beautiful site. I’ve camped quite a bit within about a 3 hour radius of Austin, and this has been the best! Loved it

This property is GORGEOUS. Fantastic views, amazing stars, pool and restaurant on-site are super clutch, hiking trail with an awesome view of Big Bend, and reliable Wi-Fi between the campground and restaurant. Was here almost a week and had a fantastic time.

Campground was very private, very secluded. Neighboring sites were completely out of view from our site. This is a hidden gem right in the middle of the city area. Hard to believe this kind of privacy exists this close to San Antonio! Owner/host was fantastic! If you want some primitive camping time unplugged and "in the woods", this is it!

2 nights at Paisano Azul Ranch

I really enjoyed camping here. It is a great location and was very clean. I appreciated the shade structures. It was calm and quiet, especially at night. The only thing I hated was that there was an awful smell one of the nights we stayed here. Maybe it was the porta-potty? The wind blew it into my campsite, and it was really gross. Justin was very friendly and I enjoyed chatting with him when he stopped by our site to say hello. Would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful land! We enjoyed our stay at this camp site. Billy accommodated us on short notice and showed us to our site. We loved the view and hearing the cattle and fish jumping in the river. We will back again on our next Texas Adventure

Amazing place to stay 3 mins away from the entrance to the national park, staff super friendly and knowledgeable. The restrooms were clean and the showers are amazing with a view of mountains. I don’t think i would stay anywhere else when i come to visit the park

I loved staying at tent site B. It was easy to find, had a raised mulch pad for the tent, a couple of chairs, firepit, and grill. It was a short walk to the bathrooms/showers along a mulch path. Will definitely stay again when we come back to explore more.

Weekend Trip to 4R Ranch Winery Campsite

Walt is a super hero. Upon arriving to our campsite on a very rainy weekend, we proceeded to get stuck in the mud. Walt arrived the next morning at 6:30am and, after considerable effort, pulled us out with his tractor. He went above and beyond to take care of his guests. I highly recommend anything associated with the winery or Walt’s property. Thanks Walt!

Everfree Shire Ranch

Everfree Shire Ranch is an 11 acre estate nestled between quiet country houses and a very active horse ranch next door to the east. Rescue horses are also kept on the property in rotation. Much of the camping here is still a work in progress! So for now, a very private economical choice for campers! The central building has indoor lodging available and the side bathroom with indoor toilet / washer / dryer may be used by campers as well. A new outdoor shower is 95% complete and usable but swimwear is required because we have not finished filling in the slots between the wood fence panels. The RV Dump station is also ready for use as well as the new outhouse! If you forgot to dump on the way out or need to before arriving, please use the free dump stations on I-35 near Natalia on either side of the highway.

No electric or water here. - When you camp with us you are welcome to explore and play on the entire property! We have 55 acres of trails and woods to explore! Please bring your bikes, trail shoes, or whatever helps you have fun in the wild! - Hammocks welcome! We have so many trees! All of our sites are hammock-friendly. - When you check-in, just text us, your host will help you find your campsite. - Some sites are drive-in where your vehicle can park right next to the fire. If you want to drive right into your site, Campsites 2, 3, 6, and 12 are the sites you want. Each of these sites requires a walk of at least 50' from your vehicle to the fire ring. Site 13 is only for backpackers or people willing to hike about 500 yards to the campsite over rough terrain. There is no way to drive to it or even get close except on foot. But it is spectacular and beautiful! Only three sites can accommodate a smaller trailer or camper. Site 1, Site 2, and site 6. Please notify me in your booking if you intend to bring a camper and I can accommodate you. We practice leave-no-trace as much as possible. So please pack out anything you pack in. You are responsible for removing all trash. If any garbage is left behind in your site you will be billed for the cleanup. We have a dumpster located near the front gate. Please use it and put all your trash in there. Heads-up! We have a small farm on the property. Dogs are always welcome and we LOVE our furry friends! For their safety and the safety of our livestock please keep them leashed while on property.

Low Gear Farmstead

Get into low gear and enjoy the slow pace and peace of our little working farm on the edge of the hill country. Low Gear Farmstead's 75 acres border the lovely San Saba River, providing campers the opportunity to swim, wade, fish and paddle. Farm animals including dairy goats, chickens, and horses inhabit the property, but wildlife such as deer, wild turkey, ringtail, fox and armadillo is also abundant. Bird watchers will be delighted at the diversity of birds, especially in spring. Don't forget to look up at night as our dark skies provide excellent stargazing on clear nights and a very visible Milky Way. We limit the number of campsites and spread them out so that campers may enjoy privacy and seclusion. Campsites are provided with compost toilets and most sites also have a fire ring. 4WD is not required unless we have had heavy rains, otherwise most vehicles, except very low clearance ones, do fine. The nearest town, Menard, is about a 12 minute drive from the property and has a grocery store, gas stations, a couple restaurants, a pub and a bakery. Lovers of history might enjoy visiting the Presidio de San Saba, about 20 minutes from the farm, as well as the historic Pioneers Rest Cemetery in town. Low Gear Farmstead is a safe, welcoming space for queers and POC.

River Grove Campground

. These are unique camping spots along the Guadalupe River. I didn’t exactly understand how unique until I started getting feedback from my campers. The surrounding scenery will lower your blood pressure and do wonders to let you reconnect with nature. Sit back and close your eyes late in the evening and listen to all the wildlife talking to each other. There is faint traffic noise from 90A about a 1/3 of a mile away but it calms down after 7 or so. Currently no amenities but I am in the plans for some portable bathrooms. Please be prepared to cover all your bathroom and cooking needs. I do have some good clean well water from a faucet on the way into the campgrounds. Campfires are permitted. There is a convenience store (Diamond A) with clean bathrooms and a great bbq just 5 miles to the west on 90A and a Walmart and HEB 10 miles to the east on 90A. (Both Diamond A and Walmart sell fishing licenses if you need one. Dogs are allowed at sites 3 and 4 but not at 1 or 2 where my livestock guardian dogs have access to. No matter the size or temperament of your pets you are always expected to have them under your control at ALL times. The Navasota River Ranch

The Navasota River Ranch is a 600 ac parcel of land bounded by more than a mile of the Navasota River on its west side and two tributary creeks on its north and southeast sides. The river bottom is wild and untamed, while the rest is rolling hills reminiscent of the prairie that once greeted settlers. Nearby is Bryan-College Station home of Texas A&M University To the west on Hwy 105 is Washington on the Brazos State Park. This is the location where delegates gathered to hastily draw up a declaration of independence before joining the Runaway Scrape to avoid capture and execution by the advancing Mexican Army. Farther down the road is the famous Blue Bell creamery in Brenham. The tour and ice cream are well worth the trip. On the property are miles of Jeep trails excellent for off road and 4WD vehicles. Guests might prefer hiking along these trails or strike out on foot trails and game trails. Thanks to the hunters who have come for the deer and feral hogs over the years there are numerous observation structures for viewing wildlife up close, or just enjoying the solitude of the deep woods. Three ponds offer bass and perch fishing from the bank or bring your own boat. And then there is the Navasota River...

For bigger water and easy access to Lake Ray Roberts State Park, head over to the Johnson Branch of Lake Ray Roberts which is less than 15 minutes away. We are located next door to 555 Vineyard and the Vineyard Tasting room. Also, check out downtown Valley View with local restaurants including Blue Bonnet Cafe, York N Ale, Hess Meat Market, and Firelight Vineyard just 7 minutes away. Edge of the Lake Vineyard is also 7 minutes away. Drinking water is available at the campsites from a water hydrant. No electricity is available at campsites. There are no bathroom amenities here. Guests will need to be self-contained, take waste with them and leave no trace.

Each site is private. When the ground is dry there is access for all vehicles. When the ground is muddy, Brookside, RiverRock, and Richardson Creek campsites require a 4-wheel drive and have alternate routes to get to them. Ancient Oaks is an all-weather site. You can enjoy hiking and swimming in Richardson Creek when water levels permit. Canoeing from Bakers Crossing put-in which is only 3 miles away. Some places to check out while you are here include Dinosaur Valley State Park, Dinosaur World, Granbury Historic Square, Stephenville Rodeo, Bakers Crossing River Put-In, Oakdale Plunge Pool, and BigRocks Park in Glen Rose. Our livestock rotate between our two properties, so they may not always be here at The PARK at Brushy Creek. If you don't see them here, you're welcome to visit our other property across the road with the big green gate. Currently, there is no electricity or Wi-Fi on the property. Lighting is provided by solar power or batteries. Tent sites have access to a water spigot, and there's a Port-o-let nearby. This is rural country living; our neighbors' livestock and dogs may make sounds like bleating, barking, oinking, mooing, neighing, squealing, whinnying, braying, or whining at any time of day or night. We are conveniently located one hour north of Dallas Fort Worth, just 30 minutes from McKinney, Sherman, or Greenville, and within 10 miles of Leonard, Whitewright, and Bonham. Trenton is only five miles away. Several lakes are nearby including Lake Bonham, Lake Texoma, and the new Bois' d Arc Lake.
